We had a calf born that can't stand up without extreme difficulty. He seems to have no control over his left hind leg, (although it doesn't 'drag') but when he tries to walk or stand, it swings too far forward and he falls down.
I don't believe he was hip-locked at birth, it seems more like his tendons, or maybe his leg muscles are too short in his hip.
I did ask a vet about it and she really had no idea. The calf appears to be healthy in all other aspects, and was born with sufficient cover and hair quality.
Has anyone seen anything like this before, or heard of a calf recovering from it?
