shipping one heifer/best way?

Hi- I want to bring a 6 month dairy heifer from Ill.,to Calif seems like it will cost around $1,000.through horse transport.. but hard to find a cattle hauler this time of year.Any suggestions/recommendations.Any one from East coast coming to West for dairy shows, that can give her a ride?
