Shipping Fever

Help Support CattleToday:

What is commonly referred to as shipping fever is actaully a combination of things. Normally it is a respritory problem stemming from stress, poor/no vaccination, possibly frafty conditions, etc. It also deends on the age of the animal. If very young there is a possibility of a shrtage of, or poor quality clostrum casuing an immune dificiency. When picked up animals from questinable or streesed conditions we would give them an injection of Nuflor as soon as they arrived. We then waited a week or so to insure they were healthy, or as healthy as could be expected, then we would worm and vaccinate. Worked well for us
