SEMEX ALLIANCE EXPORTS LIVE BULL TO KOREA

The Semex Alliance is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed negotiations resulting in the live export of 0200HO01543 Stanbro Money VG-CAN SP'05, the first live cattle export originating in Canada since the discovery of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in North America in May 2003.
Negotiations began in early 2006 as The Korea Agricultural Cooperatives Trading Co., Ltd. issued a tender for live bulls. Following the release of this tender, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Korean Ministry of Agriculture came to an agreement on the health certificate for export of live cattle to Korea. The Semex Alliance applied to the tender through our Korean distributor (Kire Agro Canada), hosting an official delegation visit from Korean officials in March 2006. This visit resulted in the selection of 0200HO01543 Stanbro Money for export.
"Semex's Stanbro Money met Korea's strict minimum requirements for milk, fat, protein, conformation, age and reliability," says Christine Wenger, Semex Alliance Sales Support Specialist for Europe, Australasia and The Middle East. "In addition, Money underwent a battery of health tests and an extensive physical inspection by the Korean delegation before being chosen as their candidate for import."
0200HO01543 Stanbro Money, a Convincer from a Luke, received his first official proof in August 2005. Money was instantly known as a transmitter of fat and protein, receiving the title of the #1 new release sire, #1 fat sire and #10 protein bull on his debut release. Money is known to sire well-attached fore udders, strong rear udders, sound rump structures and correct feet & legs. He remains popular today with semen exported to numerous countries worldwide, and leaves a semen bank at the Semex Alliance to meet this demand.
The Semex Alliance and its partners in Korea are currently negotiating additional live bull shipments to be completed by the end of 2006.
The Semex Alliance is a partnership of the Canadian artificial insemination cooperatives: Westgen, Centre d'insémination artificielle du Québec (CIAQ), Eastern Breeders Inc. (EBI) and Gencor. Semex Alliance is focused on global leadership in the livestock genetics
marketplace.

"The CLGA congratulates all those involved in the successful completion of this transaction and thanks the CFIA and Korean Ministry of Agriculture for making possible the return of live Canadian breeding cattle to the international marketplace."
