Seeding alfalfa after spraying

I am thinking about spraying my hay ground with 2, 4-D after first cutting of hay to kill weeds and thin alfalfa stand.
I wish to keep the stand of grass.

Will I be successful in no-tilling alfalfa and clover into the remaining grass?

Or, any suggestions about spraying etc to reach my goal?

You cant follow Alfalfa with Alfalfa. You should do another crop for a couple years and then back to Alfalfa.

Depends.
Grass into clover is very difficult.
Clover into grass works OK, unless it is a thick sod forming grass. Graze the grass hard before the clover comes up to set it back .
Check the waiting period on 24D.
Pray for rain.

I'm guessing you know you will have to wait a couple weeks to let the weeds and alfalfa leaf in order for the 2, 4-d to work......
