I saw it last night. I think it may have been pulled.

Our bull (red angus) works the night shift...gets the foolin 'round done in daylight but never seen him cover a cow...all settled nicely.
Seems like during daylight he trys the cows that are close but not standing, guess all that foreplay brings them in at night.
No real desire to stay up and watch this spring...another one for the son-in-law's to do list.

the most eggresive bull i had was a simmental if a cow was in heat he would run her in the ground to get her bred. and protective of his brood if a cow started toward another bull bawling in the next farm he would run her back to the herd wish i still had him at times got some great replacments out of him extremely fertile cows :hat:

Now that's the kind of bull I want!

Unless he thinks I'm trying to take one of his girls, ofcourse.

We have a bull that gets ...oh...cantankerous when a cow is in heat but only when human guys are around. If a human female is around at the same time she can handle him with no problem. Is that a male pheromone(or other) thing? Anyone ever experience the same/similar reaction?

My Bull (Simmental) will get a little hyper, or nervous acting if he has one standing and I happen to be around. I always give him plenty of room therefore allowing him to (in my mind) concentrate on what he's here to do.

fitz.

You got it.

Hey Macon,

TCM is trying to be better. I can see him bite his lip as he types. Well, I guess there goes the theory about "no management". ;-)

An ol' timer told me once that black bulls (I'm assuming he meant angus or brangus) like to do their business at night. One of the brangus bulls we have now doesn't care. A couple of months ago I brought my 7 year old daughter to check the cows with me. It was late in the evening. I didn't notice, but she screamed out, "Dad, that bull is trying to kill that cow!" " What's he doing on top of her?" Not wanting to just throw this back at my wife, I sat out there with her for about an hour talking to her about it. The funny thing was that the whole time we were talking, that bull was trying to earn his keep. Now she laughs and says, "Dad, the bull is breeding number 11, you need to write that down."

Well done! My girls learned at a young age as well - best thing I could have done.

Bez!
