Iam borrowing an ar from a friend , familiar with the rifle, not the ammo. I will have to zero it. With a 1x8 twist, what weight bullet do i need for Accuracy ? I will be using it for coyotes . I doubt if I will take over a 300 yd shot , so is a dead on 100 yd sight in what I need ? I will be using factory loads, any recommendation?

Using Berger VLD 70 gr bullet if you are 6 inches high at 100 yards you would be 6 1/2 inches low at 300. you would be. So a 100 yard zero would put you a foot or so low at 300

My personal experience with an 8:1 barrel is to keep it under 60 grains. That said, they all act a bit different. My favorite factory load for my 8:1 AR with a 24" barrel is a 55gr Hornady V Max. You can shoot a yote in the toe, and they'll bleed out. It's spot on to 500 yds with a Nikon .223 BDC scope.

I use 55 gr hornady vmax. With my rifle a 200 yard zero is a touch high at 100 and about 6 inches low at 300. They are all different. But a great round

Thanks everyone , I will pick up some ammo today , maybe a couple different weights and see how it works . Igenerally use my model 70 in 270 for most chores , but it's a little unwieldy at times . If this works out I may have to look around .

Lot of different twist rates out there in 223 the 62-69 will stabilize from 1/14 to 1/7 if you just have to grab something over the counter.
Each rifle will have its favorite.
Remington Hog Hammer have performed well in all my rifles.
They are not spray and play rounds.

it says ''NOT AVAILABLE - ONE TIME RUN'' does that mean it was a shell they made one time as a test run and will not be making it again ??
