Rule of Thumb
For Pete's sake - who is Pete?
Quitting Cold Turkey
Proof is in the pudding
snug as a bug in a rug
watch your head
time heals all wounds
colder than a witches be nice
I slept like a baby

In reality most of those make perfect sense.

My guess is - a generational gap and possibly a geographical gap.

Rule of Thumb is Old English common law. A man could beat his wife with a stick that was no bigger around then his thumb.

Well maybe it's cuz yer a feriner, and speak a different brand of inglish.

Seriously I read posts on the internet from Australia and New Zealand, and also talk to a Kiwi friend of mine and a LOT of it makes very little sense.

Hope you know I was kiddin about the feriner thing

I guess it just shows that i'm a redneck.I've heard of every one of them mentioned so far.

Okay, so here's one that maybe you guys will agree with me ...

"Poddy" calf/goat/lamb etc.

I have absolutely no idea why we call bottle babies 'poddies'

Or why some areas call them "Deacon calves"
