Also good to stack your sawn lumber (with strips of course as mentioned in other posts) North/South. Predominant winds, at least here, are East/West. I like a shelter best but if one is not available you can stack it out in the open and cover it with a couple of sheets of tin. Just make sure it's fastened down good.
 
Whichever mill you get make sure it has a hydraulic Turner. When I was a teenager I helped an old man with a completely manual band mill saw out the sheeting for a couple of hay barns out of 16 ft hemlock. It was a band mill that the saw carriage had to be pushed by hand, and the cants turned with a peavy. He could saw some nice lumber, but dang that was hard work.

Been looking at YouTube and people built nice sawmills for pretty cheap and they work well
