Here is one that we have, she is developing out nicely.

https://youtu.be/wFzaUZFTOio

Will breed her at 13-14 months.

Candidates so far:

VAR Power Play 7018
Baldridge Colonel C251
MGR Treasure sexed form ST Genetics

Would like to hear your suggestions?

Bull of choice depends on what your end game is. I look not just at the bull I'm going to use, but what will I do if I get a keeper heifer. Do I have a mating for Treasure that I like? And I also want to know does Treasure have things I like about him or his dam or sisters that would imprint into my heard. For example I used War Party this year, if we are blessed with daughters, will breed them to Flat top. Very similar genetic profile, which hopefully will show in my herd. I'm looking at Chisum 255 and Tahoe, both their dams look similar. I'm always looking to the second and third generation.

Too high in the pins for my liking, I'd move her on.
You made me look again, but I don't see that. She seems to be a bit shallow in the rear quarter, but as she develops that could change. I'm betting her pedigree is saying, don't move on. If I were raising show cattle and every cow has to hit certain criteria minor flaws might mean something. But with seed stock too often I've seen that marginal cow produce really good progeny time and again.

Nice heifer, for what its worth I like Legend a lot better than Treasure, seen several of both, my Legends are really good.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

I will check out Legend for sure.

I would cull her for poor personal hygiene.

A few of our cows are dirty like that as well. But they've been standing in mud and water swatting flies which looks like that's what this one has been doing as well.

I like her. Not a knock on her, except that it might be an insult her when I say that she looks like a few of my early winter born calves that have some rough hair on them. I am pretty sure that next year that will shed off. Bout any of them will be in the water and mud if they can these days.

I agree with overlooking minor floors in cows, especially ones you know you can breed out with good bulls. But i feel her pelvis is tilted forward, it may be just a high tail head gives that impression. I love her front half. But high pins is not something I tolerate as after calving they have a high risk of not cleaning properly due to gravity want everything to flow the wrong way. I find it is a trait that is hard to correct. I may be being a little over cautious here. I guess really it is just the 'look' i don't go for. I'm moving towards breeding speckle park and they ALL seem to look like this heifer, i might have a tough time!!

With all due respect, the issue you mentioned above, not cleaning properly has never been an issue here. In fact, that is the first that I have ever really heard of that. Her dam has been very fertile, and her 1/2 sibling settled on first try AI and will be calving soon. If that problem were to exist, I would get rid of them quickly, but it simply does not exist.

Its an issue.. to the point theyll keep infections.and won't pasture breed..but if it is a issue you'll know it later on,as she ages.she will sink in and drop her poop off at the next floor down.""personally"""I think she's fine..
