I was about to pull the trigger on buying some "Black Star Rust Converter" for the rust spots on my metal roof until I saw your post about Ospho. How does this compare to Black Star Rust Converter?
I love talking about corrosion and corrosion prevention and trying to learn as much as possible. That Black Star rust converter is probably VERY close to chemistry with Corroseal.
Corroseal just happens to be one of the oldest products on the market with that chemistry, but here's what convinced me to change directions away from Ospho.
1. Ospho is just phosphoric acid, no other secondary chemistry
2. Ospho DESTROYS cement/concrete so don't use it in a shop unless you have a tarp or wash the floor immediately after application
3. Living on the Gulf Coast with tons of refineries / chemical plants / oilfield installations where EVERYTHING rusts from the outside in, none of these industrial customers use ospho, they use chelate's (such as Corroseal), and film based coatings (like Fluid Film & Woolwax)
working on and driving muscle car's is my thing, so I've gone WAAAAAY down this rabbit hole, until something better is found and proven, Corrosal as a converter is the King.
KBS ( https://www.kbs-coatings.com/ ) is working on a UV Stable line of their moisture cured urethane which may prove to be the next best top-coat if it proves to do what they're claiming it'll do.
