Is it common practice for auction barns in other parts of the country to charge by a straight fee like 8.00 per calf or by a percentage of the sale price? Two of the larger sale barns here have decided to get together and charge 12.00 per cow plus 2%.
Just wondering,

Round here they charge a set fee. A commision of about 11 for the whole bunch, 1.50 yardage, 1.50 cattlesmans assoc. Works out to about 14 for one head. You get a better deal selling more than one as the 11 dollars is only applied once.

Yes, They will get theirs!

Here it's $ per each, no matter how many head goes through as a group and now an additional 2% of the resulting price. I can't complain in them getting theirs since this is a resource that I appreciate having. I'm just curious how other markets operate.
