Ryegrass Hay?

Could marshall ryegrass yield 4 tons to the acre if you fertilized correctly and got enough rain?

I sure don't see that happining, unless it's wet. Rye grass is one of our highest protein grasses, but it's lighter when cured. The leaves dry out and the rest is light. 4 tons / acre seems very heavy to me. I'm in Texas, NorthEast, to North Central. To get any weight to the Ryegrass bales here, we need some clover, alfalfa, or some bermuda mixed in. ;-)
