I need to kill all of the winter grass (wild oats, etc) in my coastal bermuda hay meadow. I have a ropewick that I use to kill the johnson grass but hate to have to wick the whole meadow in the spring.
Can I spray the entire meadow with roundup, let's say in February before the coastal emerges and be all right?

Or is there another herbicide better suited for this application?

Thanks

That will work fine. I use off brand now that round ups patent ran out. If its feasible, also burn if off just before spring green up.

You can use Round-up or a generic glyphosate at the rate of 1 pt per acre. Use at least 20 gallons water to acre to get good coverage. Apply late February. Add 17 lbs of water soluable ammonium sulfate fertilizer per 100 gallons of water (its in the fine print). It makes the herbicide work better ( I have tried it with and without)

Really cleans up winter weeds and ruyegrass for a clean first cutting in bermuda.
