Does it hurt a roller pump to shot the output off while it is running?

Thanks John, what I wanted to do is use a roller pump for a simple spot sprayer.
Tank to pump to pressure regulator to wand with shut off.
Will this work?

I would think that you'll blow hoses from the pressure when it's turned off.
