Road Trip

Help Support CattleToday:

Glad you got it picked up no problems. You got to see some pretty farm country anyway.

Now that your a pro I got a baler I am looking at in Wisconsin. How much you charge to get it to Virginia?😂😂😂
Sorry I don't know how to haul balers, but I do now know how to haul chisel plows now.

One thing I did learn with all this is that in Illinois you don't need a permit as long as you have all of the right flagging, and don't drive over 45mph. I Missouri and Iowa you don't need a permit as long as you stay off the Interstate. In Illinois you can go on the interstate.

For a couple years i delivered horse trailers and traveled through Illinois a lot. Wife ask me what i seen. I said a corn field and then a soybean field. Then vise versa.

I have been to South Carolina and Georgia but all I ever seen was military bases. I did my basic training at Fort Jackson, and my AIT at Fort Gordon. I don't really remember much anymore, that was a few moons ago.
Im sure you seen plenty of trees both places. But weren't vety interested back then. Especially if you were there in the summer.

Round or square baler?

Round baler is easy to flat tow, or load on a deck over trailer and not be overwidth.

It was cold over there in Illinois. They had snow, and as you can see in the photo we don't have any at home. I put my transfer tank in the truck before leaving home so I didn't stop a a filling station every time. I filled up in Missouri, I had hoped that I could make it back to Nebraska before having to fill up again. Well It was cold enough where my fuel gelled in my transfer tank. I finically was able to fill up it after I made it to Kearney Nebraska. Ended up have to fill up with some of that expensive fuel in Illniois and Iowa.

4x5 Round baler. Won't be a big deal to haul or get shipped other than it is in the middle of Wisconsin in December/January. Hoping the weather and the holidays will be reflected in the price.😁

I hauled this one from middle SC and if the guy had not had a very large track Skid steer don't know if we could have got it loaded without damage. We tried a 5085 JD and just couldn't raise up at the right times to prevent damage. Pull it on would have been no problem. I took my drill and some screws and drilled 2x4 s in front of and behind each wheel on the baler as I barely knew it was behind me on the interstate. Coming home I hit 5th gear a few times and a couple times down to 4th.

Since I bought an excavator and started clearing my fencelines 50+ foot wide trees don't bother me near as much anymore.

And when it's -30 windchill like today and snowing sideways I'd much rather be in some trees than out in the open field.
Trees do have their place.
In drought years the best grass is in the trees here.
