Does anyone use the arrowhead rags from Ritchey? Interested but kinda thinking that putting them in look quite challenging. Searching for people who use them. Maybe a picture. Ritchey doesn't do a very good job providing much info

You want to use them because?
Alflex A-tags, Z-tags are one piece and easy to install.
Ritchey engravable two piece tags have a better button than most. We've had decent luck with retention.

I started with the two piece but seems like retention is getting worse. They want to lecture about the pin. I bought it. I never use a different pin or tagger. I'm about ready to say send me a new pin we will see if that helps. I'm not saying all fall out but one that's been in place a year just fell out this morning. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I LOVE the engraving option but those stupid tags are really getting on my nerves. They say the allflex button is an alternative and I think that's my next move. I think other tags are fine for short term animals. I want the tag to stay in cows retained in the herd for awhile. I mean sure some cattle rip them out but I don't want them falling out as often as they do for no good reason. The one today shouldn't have much reason. Nor should they on the summer pasture 2 cows lost tags on last year.

-1 love the engraving no fade option.
I assume you're talking about the engraving on the Ritchie tags. They do look nice.

I've got a few Z's that have remained in ears since 2016. Definitely don't lose many at all, but I also don't use hay rings very much in winter.

The "feedlot" Z's won't last 6 months for me because the animals eat them off each other. lol. So definitely suggest that no one uses those on breeding cattle.

Have ya tried any 1 piece tags to compare retention? Engraving is nice and all but if they fall out so quickly what good are they? I also have some Y-tex 1 piece. Theyre pretty much identical to the Z's.

I started freeze branding in 2010 for the very reasons you mentioned.
I really like the Alflex A tags and have pretty good luck with them. At work we use Ztags and Ritchie engravable tags.
Back in '10 when I started using FBing I figured the cows were averaging 4 ear tags over their lifetime. That adds up $ not to mention the frustration of trying to figure out which cow lost their tag.

An engravable Z tag would be the best in my opinion. I am trying the 2 piece engravable ritchie tags for the first time this year so I guess I will see how they hold up.
