Ringworm or Mange

calves have ringworm or mange mites. I first noticed it on one of my calves. It had a circle of hair loss around one eye. In less then a week I notice hair loss on all of them (7). A few have the circle around their eye while others have a round spot on the the crown of their head. Do you think this is ringworm? At fist I was thinking mange because one had scabs on his neck and shoulders. But after doing some research i believe it may be ringworm. My plan is to treat 2 or 3 times by putting Iodine on the infected spots. Any suggestions or does this seem the way to go? Thanks

Lice are very common at this time of year. Treat for parasites first, then look into the possibility of ringworm.

> Any fungicide would be appropriate...such at treatments for athletes foot (Absorbine Jr), yeast infections (Monistat 7), or treatments for jock itch. These over the counter products are quite effective, but must be used over a period of approx. a week. If it is ringworm, you will notice the hair beginning to grow in bald areas after a week of treatment. Make sure that when applying meds that you use rubber gloves or wash you hands thoroughly, as you could possibly get ringworm as well.
