Went out to the barn yesterday afternoon to show a friend Tenn (first calf heifer) who was due on the 30th but not not really showing "all the signs" just acting a little p1$$y at morning feeding.
Nice surprize...good bull calf, all cleaned up and nursing with gusto. Nice calm and curious calf, just like his daddy...mama hasn't had time to teach him to be wary yet.
First calf out of our new Lim bull...looks like we'll be keeping him around for at least another season.

Congratulations! We bought an AI'd heifer back in Oct., that is due Jan. 1. She hasn't really given any indication that she was close. Temp at 2:00 pm was 57 with a slight breeze. Front has moved through and now temp is 40 and dropping, with a strong WNW wind. Supposed to get down below 20 by morning with a 0-5 windchill. Put out a new bag of mineral and gave them each a couple handsful of grain about 3:00. Her udder has now filled out and her vulva is bigtime loose and about 3 times the size it was yesterday. Looks like she may be right on time too! Whoo-Hoo!
