I need some help with my Rhino TW72 (about 22 years old). It has had some vibration, I knew the blades needed replacing. In preparing to put on new blades, I discovered the Pan and Blade carrier are somewhat loose, by that I mean you can move the outer end of the blade up and down. But it does not appear loose on the Gearbox spindle. The slotted nut and cotter pin are in place on spindle.
Question #1: Is it possible for the blades, blade arm and pan to be loose and it not be loose on the spindle?
Question #2: Is the Blade Carrier welded to the Pan? (I don't see bolts attaching them)
Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Thanks for your help

Remove the pin and see if you can tighten the nut. Might be some wear inside the gearbox that tightening the nut will help. For sure replace the blades. Even if bent a little it could vibrate

I had the same problem with a 6' Rhino cutter. This was around 2015 and it was several years old when I got it from the Kubota dealership..it came in as a trade-in and I got it for employee cost of $250
I used it hard for a couple years and found the hub had gotten loose on the splined shaft and my attempt to tighten the nut up didn't work as the nut was at the end of the threads. The splines on the output shaft were simply worn. The 'correct fix' would have been to replace the gearbox output shaft or the whole gearbox, but I ground down a thick washer that would fit over (outside) the end of the splines, then installed the nut and oem washer and tightened the dog crap out of the nut, which pushed the rotating hub farther up the cone shaped splines. Installed the pin and used it until I sold out in 2022.

(Tip..turn the mower up on it's side and stick a big pry bar in the acess hole to keep the hub from turning and as you're tightening the nut in something that is worn like this, use a shop hammer to whack the hub every once in a while to help drive the hub farther up on the shaft but not so hard as to damage the inside of the gearbox. )
