I used my Rhino bush hog last week, after about 45 min I noticed a fluid leak. Got off to check it and found this...(see photo). The leak was from the fill plug on top of the gear box. Also it appears it not just fluid, maybe water in it. Any idea what is going on here, if its water, how did it get in the gear box?IMG_3330.jpg

Looks like it is a vented plug, likely water in the oil by the colour. Seeing it is not leaking at the shaft seal the bearings probably are not gone. I would change the oil and run it and see what happens.

Yes, the water has increased the volume and it is coming out the vent. Water always amazes me how it finds its way into these things. You might have to keep it covered.

Definitely water contamination. Could have entered through the vent plug or your front shaft seal. I'd drain and flush the gearbox, and replace all the seals if it were me. Cheaper in the long run.
