Michigan producers must operate under the rules of Michigan's mandatory electronic animal identification system, which means that all cattle must be identified with an electronic ID tag by March 1. The new law is in support of Michigan's Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Program. Michigan officials say the use of RFID tags decreases the time and money required to trace animal movement.
