I have watched the superior auction on rfd tv network on the DISH satelite system. I have a couple of questions on the terms. 1. 2- 4 cent slide??? 2. weighed on the truck (how else would they) 3. shrinkage 4.who pays for shipping. Thanks for the feedback

A slide is a way to base calves at a certian weight but to alter the actual price on what the calves weigh.

For example; if you base your calves at 500 pounds and the agreed price is $1.00 a pound or $100/cwt, and the calves actually weigh 525 pounds, the price slides down according to the slide agreed on. Let's use a .05 slide. That means for every pound the calf is over the base (500) the price goes down 5 cents a cwt or .05 cents a pound. 25x.05=1.25. So the 525pound calves would bring 98.75 or $518.44 per head, instead of the base of $500.

Weighed on the truck as opposed to weighed on a scale where the cattle only are weighed. The manure is also weighed on the truck. However, some areas a truck scale is far closer than a cattle scale, and the cattle don't have to be unloaded and reloaded.

Shrinkage is weight cattle lose in transit, handling or a 'pencil shrink' of what the cattle would lose if hauled or marketed other than at the farm/ranch.

Who pays the shipping is part of the price, if the buyer has to pay he will reduce the bid, or he will throw it in as a bonus to get better calves for the same money. If you haul to a sale barn, you pay the shipping in and the buyer pays it going to his destination.
