A friend in Alberta Canada says that the next couple of years will be good for suppliers of replacment heifers there due to drought conditions forcing mass sales. Will that happen here too?

Depends where 'here' is. I am from Alberta and have stated that I think the bred heifers market will climb, PROVIDED that it rains in a 'normal' pattern.

Also some have taken the opportunity to change the genetic make-up of their herds, here, good Angus heifers are in short supply. There is a huge price difference between trader cows and top of the line replacement stock.

Just grabbing a few cheap heifers at the sale barn and breeding them won't garantee a profit. Keeping home raised solid genetic heifers and breeding them to a top notch bull might.
