Removing Rodent Cover

The cat is faithfully waiting for a field mouse to go running out...
I just can't fathom being able to use those untreated poles for fencing. Back in East Texas, there were plenty of long straight pines but they would be rotted out within 2 years if I just cut and skinned them.
Or eaten apart by bugs...

Environment, climate, and species of pine makes a big difference.
First picture is some Lodgepole pine which we installed 6 years ago
Second and third pictures are some of the last remaining old ones which are 45+ years old.
The last 2 are some larger Lodge pole which they run through a saw and split lengthwise. The wife told me that we are too old to go up in the hills and cut poles so I had to buy these. (dang woman anyway)
