Possibly it is a regional thing but if that calf was mine I would be concerned as to where I could sell him. I try to raise what my customers want but I would be concerned that I would have to buy the calf a ticket to ride the pot belly West.

Predominately black for certain! Even baldies take a small deduction. My blacks crossed with Murray Grey take a hit being ID'd as Charolais X at the sale. Brindles and ears are a NO NO.

A charolais cross will sell equal to or better than blacks here. The 1/2 & 3/8 Brahman calves will be discounted some (in the fall more than right now). Most everyone can put 1/4 bloods on orders unless the cattle are going to Kansas or Nebraska.
