If I want to be intimately acquainted with Red Angus breed history in the United States what books and articles do I need to read? I understand that in every other country in the world that the black hided Angus and red hided Angus are all part of the same herdbook(which makes sense to me) but such is not the case here. So do I really need to start with the foundation animals of the Aberdeen Angus in Scotland?

The American Red Angus Assoc. allows breeding up like the continentals do. We have some of both bred up (1B) and pure angus (1A). Can;t tell the difference other then the 1B bulls aren;t popular for selling as breeders so we don;t bother trying.
