have your horses teeth checked, put the horse on a complete feed, nutrina makes a great senior feed, keep the horse on soft grass hay. another product i have had great success with starved and/or older horses is weight builder it is a top dress, comes in both powder and (new) liquid. i've only used the powder, but i was very satisfied with the results. i noticed a definite change within 2-weeks. i hope this info helps. i own a 34 year old mare, she is a great horse that is not replacable. this mare is still sound, and has never been ill. her severe weight loss was due to bad teeth/ and the lack of them. knowing the condition of the teeth is very, very important. good luck martha
