That makes sense, as long as something doesn't hit them with a lot of force they seem to last a long time. We have one that 10-11 yrs old and is still almost perfect.

I am not sure I understand, do you keep these steers until it is time for them to be slaughtered? Yes
If that is what you do how long do you keep them? I have had the same 2 boys almost a year and like the other person said in TN and KY the market for feed lots would be very little.
About 14 months, you need a semi load contracted well in advance . The days of feeding a few holstein steers and hailing them to the auction are over, at least for now .
