Last August we did this video for Dusty A Ranch, Benson, Arizona. They raise Angus cattle in some pretty tough conditions compared to us. It is amazing how many more acres they need per cow compared to the average rancher or farmer. These cattle would have to have great feet and legs. What are some of the challenges that you guys face?

Tough conditions? It looks beautiful in that video. They even have a pivot. There is nothing on my place that looks that green in August. I know they have extreme heat and but I wish they would have shown more tough conditions. There was a quick scene of some desert. But a good promotional video.
I looked up their annual precipition in Arizona which was a little over 12" and looked up ours which is under 12".
I would say my conditions are:
There's not a tree on the place except for the ones that were planted. I can't remember a single summer that the temperature never went over a 100 F and I can't remember a single winter that the temp. never went below -40. The only thing the weather man can predict here is the wind.
Other than that I wouldn't want to ranch any other place. (Well I guess I would like a stream, creek or river bottom with some brush.)

i've been thru that country and i would say it is comparable to my country(west tx)
except we don't get quite as hot in the summer and some years a liitle more rain..very little
having irrigation(pivot seen in video) makes a world of difference, but pumping water is expensive.
i can't make it pay on cattle, but they may be the only way they make it work.
