Hi here in VA it's really rainy and icy. today when Alvin got his hay and breakfast it was still rainy. I am worried that his hay will turn moldy because he eats grain then picks up the stray pieces. after a while he starts toeat the hay. does mold take a few days to grow or does it grow right away?Thanx :)

If you are putting out fresh hay (no mold) each day, then there should not be a problem with feeding it in the rain. The horse(s) should have it cleaned up long before it molds.

I am feeding my horse square bales, and I usually put out what she'll clean up one in one day (about half a bale). If she doesn't clean it up pretty good, then no hay the next day.
