I plan to use my new sub tractor to help with hay went to the dealer and got prices 800-1100 dollars... Nope too much for my blood... I went on ebay ordered one for 300.00 I will show pics of the unboxing and finished product. By the time I bought the plate and spear an welded it I would have more than 300 in it so I hope this is good to go. I urge you all before running to a sale or dealer look on ebay.

I got a 3-pt bale spike off of Craig's List for $150. The quick attach plate was $110 (but I had bought 3 of them a couple of years ago). I came out nice and works good. It had the long spike in the center and two shorter ones to keep the bale from spinning.

Nice this is the one I bought

How heavy is it? I think it is probably cheap for a reason.

Our silage bales are tough on spikes. Haven't found one that will hold up long term yet.

I hate that style of spike personally, I much prefer the type with two long spears on the bottom. They will also double as pallet forks.

Everything isn't for everyone.. the link I posted has all the info on it. This will work for me as I haul many 4x4 bales to hay customers with the tractor to offload. I don't do silage bales so I'm good. Of course it's cheap for a few reasons ... Grade of steel and it had no middle man. Often the same stuff you buy in stores came from same manufacturer and is way cheaper due to not being shipped and stocked in a brick and mortar. I like saving $ on some things a hay Spears one.

That is a good deal. I can't buy the steel for that price.

I bought one of these a few years ago and use it with some pretty heavy loads on the gooseneck trailers and have not torn it up yet.

I bought a low cost 3-point bale spear -- supposed to go to 3000# bales. Bent the square tubing with 1800# bales. Twisted the 3x3 steel holding the spears. Showed the seller pictures of the mangled mess and they sent another. On the new one, I welded a heavy wall 3x3 tubing underneath where the first one twisted plus used 3x3 to back a couple other spots that were showing fatigue on the first one and the modified rig is doing the job.

This is going on a compact 35 horsepower tractor so I'm not going to be going over 800# at most for a 4x5 bale of mine.. if I see things I dont. Like I'll strengthen it.

Some quick attach implements have slop after you attach them this does not

I bought a 300.00 spear from Amazon about 3 years ago. Lasted about 10 bales before we had to reinforce the frame to keep it from flexing and falling off. Also have had to straighten the spear several times. That's easy enough as it bends back as easy as bends.
Sorry. But it's the truth. You can probably get by with it but please be careful.

All spikes can bend depending on what you do with it and the terrain I have a bent Spike on my John Deere that is extremely heavy made well came from bouncing across a field going too fast. I am happy with it so far no bends and I've moved and loaded 90 4x4 hay bales so I'm happy with that. If I need to reinforce or get another spike so be it still cheaper than 800-1100 from the dealer and the same thing could occur.
