I would like to know how Blackleg gets in the soil. Is it from animals that have previous died from the desease? I recently found a dead calf in my pasture that was too decade to determine cause of death, but was born 2-23-10, weighed approx. 500-550#. Very heathly bull calf last week! Will his carcass contaminate the soil for future cattle to come in contact with, if this was the cause of death?

If it died from blackleg yes it can contaminate the soil and can be moved by anything eating the dead animal. Either burn, bury very deep, or somehow dispose of it in a way nothing can get to it. It can stay in the soil for 20 years or more.
