Have about 10 acres with heavy ripe fescue and summer grasses growing as well no weeds as grazon was applied back in early spring . I have enough hay, would turn cows in to clean up then clip the stems later or go ahead and take the grass off. The cows I'm sure will make a mess out of it but with time and water being in pasture 27 cows with calves should work on it pretty good as i can shut the gates and let other grass rest . Will the ripe over grown fescue provide descent gain ?

First if you strip graze it it will last a lot longer without nearly as much waste.
I still have over 100 acres of fescue mix that has not had cattle on it this year. Not as good as if it was new growth but they should do fine on it.
