I looked at some nice bred Herefords that are due to calve in May. Anyway, they all had mid May (2010) calves and I would not take possession of them until mid March. By then the calves will be weaned 50-60 days. Can I or should I put them in the same pasture with their mamas? The only way I can buy them is to put them in the same pasture because it's all I've got. Will they start nursing again? Or is it just a crap shoot and you really don't know for sure until you try it?

Usually after six weeks you are fine. I wouldn't be worried. As long as you are sure they have been weened that long.
