Jeanne - Simme Valley, the color pattern of that calf is what lead me to post pictures of him back as a young calf. If I remember correctly on his other side is a white strip like that one that runs all the way or almost all way from his shoulder down to his belly. The same mating resulted in a more traditional patterned calf this year. The sire has a thinner white strip similar in length to what is visible on that steer.
Not meaning any offense, just a humorous observation, I always figured that the "unusual color pattern may have been in the genetic woodpile from years ago when that other red and white breed was still red and white. ;-) :lol2:
