pulled calf

We had a beefmaster mixed cow just had a calf 2 weeks ago by a beefmaster bull. The calf had to be pulled. weighted 95 pounds. The calf is having trouble with its hip. He can not put weight on the right back leg and the lower leg muscle looks extended. What can we do for the calf?

Watch calf closely and check leg as much as possible for broken or injured. Call Vet. Am glad I raise Texas Longhorns...50 to 65 lbs about range for newborns. Was birth "normal" otherwise, not wrongly positioned coming out? Leg might just be sprained or something from coming out with such a large calf.

You've either got a dislocated hip or a split femur. Ask your vet.
