proud flesh

I have a 1 1/2 year old filly who has proud flesh on her left back inside ankle. We have had it cut off 3 times and have used several different things on it to try to keep it from growing back. It has been doing fine for the past month, but in the last few days it has started to come back, so I put some more green slime as my vet calls it and some caustic powder and wrapped it again. This seems to work the best of anything for a while. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to how we should treat her. We keep her in a stall because if we turn her out she hits it on the other leg and it starts bleeding. Any help is appreciated since we have been treating her since this summer.

> I have had best luck not wrapping the wound. That seems to allow it to grow more. I usually use farnams proud flesh powder or "purple lotion" and let is be exposed to the air. I would wash it every day with iodine and rub away any dried scaby stuff and reapply a fresh powder or lotion on it. Good luck!
