I have been raising Brahma crosses for a just few years now and have relative young stock. I was wondering what your average productive life of these crosses such as Beefmaster, Braford, Simbrah cows tends to be. I understand they can go several years beyond the continental breeds.

That is a common thing with Brahman type cattle to be productive for a long time. We just had a 14 year old cow give birth yesterday. To have these cows for 15 to 20 years is not uncommon. We raise Simbrah cattle and they will calve at two and keep going until they get to old or cull them for some kind of other reason besides age.

We have Brahman and Simbrahs, and they are generally good producers well into their teens. I still have many cows that are 12+ years old. The trick is having their udders and feet last that long!
