Ok, I know it's old, but it (mostly) works and has been useful for the 6 years we've had it. Bought it used of course. Loading required lifting from above, which misaligned the side escape door a bit.
There is a spring step release for the escape door, but the trip bar is lo longer under the release lever. Priefert is awesome and will send replacement parts for shipping only (wonderful lifetime warranty).
I am able to get the trip bar under the lever, but it won't stay put.
Any ideas how to get it to stay put? I assume the trip bar is supposed to be bent, based on spacing…

I had a chute like that. My escape door never worked quite right either. A poor design. I had a cow get down in the chute sideways with her back to the door. She was wedged in so tight the door would not work even with the step peddle all the way down. It took a while but I finally got the head gate off the chute and pulled her out that way. When I sold the place the buyer insisted on me leaving the chute. I was more than happy to do so.
I believe you are right and the bar is suppose to be bent.
You might ask Priefert if they have a rep in the area that can come by and give it a look.

or send these pics to Priefert.

When I bought this place there was a Priefert chute here. I had a nearly new Powder River XL. So I hauled that Priefirt chute to the auction. My neighbors who had helped run cows through that old chute had a party to celebrate that thing leaving. I am sure they must make some good equipment but that chute which was here wasn't one of them.

I took my chute that was like yours to them for a refurb. This was about 2010. It took about two weeks. . Cost about $400. They were super nice and made their best effort to make you happy. Good ole Texas customer service. Mr. Priefert had one of his trainees take me out to show me their cattle which are right next to the plant. They test a lot of their equipment there on the grounds. My chute was older than yours. I can tell because mine didn't have those round bars along the mid rail. They keep the cows feet from hanging up if they jump. They added them to mine at no charge along with a few other updates the newer models had. New springs, updates, shot blasted, repainted and lubricated and it was like new. It was well worth the drive and the money to meet the people, and to see the plant.

I have-the rep then sent me a replacement for the squeeze release. Have re-contacted him to re-discuss. The plant is 6 hours away, a full refurb is aroun $500. Might be worth the drive (although it's functional enough for now)
There's a Preifert distributor here in Cove. If they have one on the lot, would it help if you had a photo of that squeeze release on a new one?

It's the escape release, rather than the squeeze. Do the new models have foot pedal releases? I appreciate the offer if they do…if you're in that neighborhood 👍
