Pricing heifers straight off the farm?

took my nephew an his buddy to buy some reg weaned calves from a buddy of mine in early winter.an he told me what open reg heifers was bringing,an said he should go up $1200 from the $1000hd he was asking.but as a favor to me he sold them heifers for $850 ave.so in my eyes your to cheap on your reg heifers if they worth putting papers on.
