I went to the Clay County Alabama Salebarn today mainly to see what the prices what the cattle prices were doing. Here is some info on a few of the solid black or black baldie calves that ran throught the sale today, I only kept records on a few of the black ones. The reds, yellows and other colors went for less than these -

TYPE WEIGHT $ per LB
Heifer Calf-225lb @ $1.20
Bull Calf-310lb @ $1.25
Heifer Calf-335lb @ $1.10
Bull Calf-340lb @ $1.15
Bull Calf-365lb @ $1.18
Heifer Calf-380lb @ $0.97
Bull Calf-390lb @ $1.10
Heifer Calf-395lb @ $0.90
Heifer Calf-395lb @ $0.92
Bull Calf-400lb @ $1.04
Bull Calf-400lb @ $1.13
Heifer Calf-405lb @ $0.99
Bull Calf-405lb @ $1.10
Heifer Calf-410lb @ $1.00
Bull Calf-410lb @ $1.06
Bull Calf-415lb @ $1.09
Bull Calf-415lb @ $1.10
Bull Calf-420lb @ $1.11
Heifer Calf-430lb @ $0.90
Bull Calf-430lb @ $1.09
Heifer Calf-445lb @ $0.97

Bull Calf-505lb @ $1.03
Bull Calf-505lb @ $1.09
Bull Calf-525lb @ $1.04
Bull Calf-720 lb @ $0.72

Notice how the Bull calves sell for around $.10per lb more than the Heifer calves.

I sold the next to the last calf listed above. He weighed 525 and brought $1.04 a pound.

I picked up a nice 3 yo angus cow for $450.00. She was sleeved and judged to be 5 months bred. The cow looks to be farther along than 5 months, I'll bet she will calve in a month or so. She weighed 1055lbs

I noticed there were no steers listed, were all the calves intact or did you just not want to list them seperately?

cfpinz,

Sorry about that.

I was not even looking to see if they were steers or not. I was just looking for black and male or female.
