Going to hire out roughly 3000 feet of fence that needs to be done. Rough country, but needs to be done. How much should this cost me per foot? Probably need to H braces and a corner. 4 strand. Ive already had one bid. I want to see if I am being hosed. I am in UTAH

I don't know anything about fence building in Utah. You really need to visit with some locals. Asked the bidder for references that will let you look at his work.

I'm feeling fortunate to have a great fence guy. 3 years ago, I had 12,400 feet of 7 strand built. T-post are 12' center. The corners and braces and line post are all wood, but lots of them and seem well constructed. I paid a shade over $26,000.

I will add, three years ago, Mr. callmefence allowed me to call him and bend his ear about how my hired man was building fence.
I appreciated that very much. That is just one of the reasons I keep coming back to CT.

Fence impressed me because he didn't say anything negative about my hired fence builder. If I recall correctly, he said that it depends on what part of the country you're in.

People do things differently, and things costs differently, depending on where you're at.

Get some local advice.

Most fencing here runs 3.50-4.50 ft.... and with the price of wire gone up and fence posts here hard to get that there is a real lag time for some of the fencing guys to get them... I would not be surprised to see it more in the 4.50 ft range...
One other thing, 75% or more of our fences built in this area are woven wire, 6" stays... what we call standard field fence.

@Ouachita , that is some nice fence that you had built. I'm NO EXPERT and couldn't build a fence if my life depended on it now with my knees and all....I have dug a few post holes and such, and help with the tractor driving when my son uses the driver but we don't build alot of fence except for our own and mostly to replace sections and such....

Hi farmerjan,
I didn't build this fence myself. I hired it done. That's why I say that I'm lucky, because we have relatively cheap labor around here.
We also have cheaper land and much lower property taxes than most. This condition/situation allows young folks to grow up like we did.
Work hard, capitalize on the fruits of your labor, love life, never stop learning, be benevolent. Life is good, always, especially if we slow down and listen.

Or like Dad would say; "Love hard, learn hard, work hard, pray hard and play hard"; Then go to bed, and sleep!

It's not flat here either. There are a lot of steep and narrow draws. A lot of corners, and National Forest Service issues to manage.
Here's what I got 3 years ago, for about $2.20 per foot.

That's a nice fence!
Bet it really PO'd the rabbits and squirrels.
Still wouldn't hold a goat tho...

Ouachita, Are those diagonal posts just sitting on top of the ground or are they buried in at an angle?
Rocky ground I assume?
