: i am getting ready to buy some calves to bottle fed and was wondering if anyone new of a prevetive against scours and pneumonia?<p>Buy the healthiest calves you can afford, preferably from the same farm. Keep them clean and dry in a well ventilated area. I don't recommend antibiotic feeding as a preventative, but they are out there and available. I prefer to use antibiotics as indicated, since most of your problems will be caused by viruses. There is also an intranasal vaccine (IBR,PI3) which can be given to calves at 3-5 days of age which will stimulate the immune system and help control disease.
