I lost a calf this morning. The cow had its last
calf 9 months and 12 days ago, does this seem a
little soon. The calf's hair did not seem to totally developed yet.
Todd

Sorry to hear that. Had the teeth (lower incisors) penetrated the gums yet? If not, definitely premature. If you have a few of these, look at getting serology done and a PM on the calf, membranes and preferably a caruncle. It could be that the cow was just bumped, or run down from lactation while heavily pregnant....unfortunately there are lots of reasons. And yes, a cow can get pregnant 10 days post calving.
Vicki
: I lost a calf this morning. The cow had its last
: calf 9 months and 12 days ago, does this seem a
: little soon.
