Ok, even as a rookie I knew what to look for. What are they teaching in vet school these days...?
How about the blood results on this cow. Is there an NL shift? Any signs of leukocytosis? Urine results--ketones?? Physical exam--any DA? (displaced abomasum) Any fever? How about liver size--can you feel the margins past the rib cage? How does the kidney feel? Do you have an ultrasound unit that you can check for hardware with?
Without these answers, I'm shooting in the dark. My ruleouts would include...
Ketosis
displaced abomasum
lymphoma
fatty liver
hardware
and just about anything else, without a better exam and description. If you can't do a proper physical and diagnostics, maybe a regional vet teaching hospital can.
