Good article. Of course, around here preconditioned calves sell at a different time than non-conditioned calves:

Calves fresh off their mommas go for better prices around September/October, depending on things...

Preconditioned calves sell better around November...

I dunno how/when preconditioned calves sell elsewhere, but it probably is something like that...

Most people around here calve year round so we just have a fall surge selling off some of all sizes before winter. Most that can, will carry them as long as they can thru the winter so we have them selling all year long.
