Preakness

Help Support CattleToday:

Nope, derby winner faded badly in the stretch, finished 8th. 2 week turn around is tough, the horse that won didn't run in the derby and was well rested.

That is something I don't like all the new fresh horses coming in. Having said that all the previous champs have won it this way so don't want to see it changed.

Only about once per decade the Preakness is won by a fresh horse.

The Prestige of the Derby and Triple Crown overflows the Derby with the top 20 or so horses, 6 or 8 who aren't.
But after all you can't win the triple crown without first winning the Kentucky Derby.
The Preakness only had 10 horses this year. More than a dozen Derby horses skipped the Preakness this year.
The Belmont is where fresh horses that skipped the Preakness really come into play and can make it so very hard
to win a triple crown.
