The NFL uses approximately 18,090 footballs per season, including regular season, playoff, Super Bowl, and Pro Bowl games. This number is calculated by considering the 256 regular season games, 11 playoff games, the Pro Bowl, the Super Bowl, and 65 preseason games, with each game using 54 balls.

Here's a breakdown of the calculation:
  • Regular Season: 256 games * 54 balls/game = 13,824 balls
  • Playoffs: 11 games * 54 balls/game = 594 balls
  • Pro Bowl: 1 game * 54 balls/game = 54 balls
  • Super Bowl: 1 game * 54 balls/game = 54 balls
    • Preseason: 65 games * 54 balls/game = 3,510 balls
    • Total: 13,824 + 594 + 54 + 54 + 3,510 = 18,090 balls

Okay, for a football total dummy.... WHY so many for a regular game???? Actually, why so many PER GAME period????? I am serious: Know next to nothing about it, I seldom watch football at all... but WHY would you need so many footballs????

I bet they wear out some footballs at practice. But I'm just guessing because I don't watch sports either.

The earlier things in another thread about Roger Miller reminded me of something he preformed. Back then there was a song that went "You asked me how I knew that our love is true". The words were accompanied with a violin solo inter spaced in the vocal. So old Roger started by playing the melody on his fiddle (aka violin) sounding very serious about this popular song. "You asked me how I knew........ Racoon poo poo is blue....... I just smiled and said......... Son you've been misled ......... Racoon poo poo is red" Us cowboy who were watching the show were rolling on the ground.
