I've been doing a bit of building on the back of my house. The semi open area will be a bit of an entertainment area with a firepit and an old wood stove. The framed up area is going to be a workshop and I'll bring my lathe and mill around as I am confident I can run these now with my off grid power though it will mostly be through my 10kva generator.. It means will be able to do a bit of work of an evening or when I get a spare hour or two. One of the first jobs will be to make up a new cylinder rod for for the quick hitch on my excavator.P1040120.JPGP1040121.JPG

What's the average day/night temp in your coldest month? I'm assuming that would be this time of year.

I've got a chicory problem. It's truly becoming a problem. Hard to walk thru. Handful of calves getting eye pokes. They're making 85% of it disappear though Im committed at this point as it's what I've got to graze. But i am not enjoying it. Next year I've got to mow after the may grazing.

We are considered a cold area due to our altitude of 960m (3150')at the house here in a lattitude that is considered sub tropical. We get a good frost more often than not over winter where our outside temp would get to -4C but the daytime gets to about 15C. Yesterday was cold for us with the temp staying around 2-3C all day and a very cold wind from the south.
Our altitude and being inland a bit is good in summer as it moderates the temp and humidity a bit.

Thank you.

Summer must be brutal there!

No thats my land. They're all over the place down here in the valley anymore. I just fixed shorts in my electric fence from them yesterday in that same area. There's a few different groups and they spend most of there time on neighbors. I enjoy looking at them a lot more when they're on my neighbors. Haha
Is that the San Louis Valley ?
